Best chicago neighborhood for young married couples?

My husband and I are moving to Chicago this summer. We come from Ohio and this will be a big change for us. We are so overwhelmed with the apartment search. We honestly don't know where to begin. We are looking for a safe and semi-quiet neighborhood where it's easy walking distance to grocery stores, shops, restaurants, coffeehouses, etc. We don't drink so bars are not needed. We'd like to live in a more ';family-oriented'; neighborhood since we plan on starting a family in a few years. Any help would be great because this search is so overhwleming!Best chicago neighborhood for young married couples?
As half of a young married couple myself, I'd say Lincoln Square or someplace around the Southport Corridor. Both are on the North Side of the city. Lincoln Square is a little further north and a little bit west. Both have cute shops and restaurants. There are also a good number of families in both areas. The Southport Corrider is technically part of Lakeview but it's one of the tamer sections (as opposed to Wrigleyville).

I'd also suggest Andersonville for all the reasons the other posters have mentioned. It's actually pretty close to Southport and Lincoln Square so you can't go wrong with either of the neighborhoods.

Single family houses in all three neighborhoods are relatively expensive (starting at $800k) but you can find a 3 bedroom for around $450-$500k.Best chicago neighborhood for young married couples?
You can try checking craigslist.org and click on apts/housing it should help you find housing in chicago..They also have pictures of the house you might want to buy.
Probably Lincoln Park/Lakeview/Wrigleyville might be right for you if you;re looking for ';family oriented'; areas. But you might want to consider Andersonville too. It's further north in the city and a little more ';hipster parent'; type of place.

all three places have what you're looking for: close to shopping, restaurants, grovery, coffeehouses, etc. Wrigleyville is a little more frat-boyish with a bar almost every 10 feet. Baseball season around there is the worst!

One other area to consider is Roscoe Village. It's pretty family oriented as well. Not overwhelemed with shopping options, but it's quaint.

Finally, try Ravenswood. This is an old school community with more mature people but younger couples are moving in.

Do a search for any of these commuinities in Chicago and you should come up with examples of housing options.
Pilsen, check it out. www.pilsen.com
As with everything else in the USA, what can you afford %26amp; how much are you willing to spend??
If you Don't want to live in the actual city but like to be in a Chicago suburb nearby i'd definetly say Orland Or Tinley Park has a lot of great resturants, great schools and is VERY family oriented. You can also try Naperville is considered one of the best towns to live in America but is not near Chicago . Its a very Nice area though. I actually wa sborn and raised in in the city, but i've been to these places and my parents recently moved to Tinley but i'm born and raised in Chicago and i love Illinois overall. I hope i helped!
