I am trying to achieve a Green Card through Marriage, but it is a same-sex partnership.
In the state I live in, same-sex marriage and civil unions are not legal.. so I am wondering: Do I have to be a resident to get married where same-sex marriage is legal? Can I get a civil union or get married in a state I do not live in?
Probably not as we had many couple come from outside of California to get married here in the short time same sex marriage was legal.
I got married to my ex in North Carolina even though I lived in Alaska and he was from California.
You may face a problem with the Green card process since it is a same sex marriage. I hope not and wish you all the luck in the world. Can I get a civil union or get married in a state I do not live in?
don't think so
