Does it really cost more for college if your married then if your single?

Ok I was raised on it's cheaper to stay single through out college because it costs more in tuition if you are married. Is this true or are my parents using it on me so they have a reason to make me wait to get married?Does it really cost more for college if your married then if your single?
Completely untrue. Tuition is the same for everyone, unless you go to a public school, and then it will depend on whether you are a resident or not. In fact, married students tend to get much better financial aid because they are not required to claim their parents' income for financial aid purposes.Does it really cost more for college if your married then if your single?
Being married or single has no effect on what you will pay for tuition.

However it will have an effect on how much grants and such from the Government you can get. If you are married, you will receive more money from PELL Grant (if you qualify). You will have to fill out the FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ And when it ask how many people will be going to college that year always put you and hubby. They really don't check to see if hubby is going to college and you really don't know if he will go. That way there is technically 2 of you going to school and that will give you a little bit more in Financial Aid.

Trust me we get more in PELL Grant being married, than if I were single. Not a huge difference but enough to purchase a couple books. And every bit helps with your education expensives.
No, it costs the same. But on the other topic, yes, your parents are misinforming you in hopes that you will wait to get married until you are older. Quite frankly, I agree that getting married when you are too young is often a mistake, but they could have been a bit more forthright with their reasoning. I mean, really, if you don't want your kid to get married young, at least come up with a reason that isn't so easily proven wrong. It just shows a terrible lack of imagination...
No. It will always be the same if you are single, married, divorced, remarried, or re divorced.
Being married has no effect on tuition (at least here in America)
no, it can be less expensive if you and ur wife split the cost!
